Home/Suzuki/Swift/RS (2004 - 2010)/Replace the Remote Key Battery

Replace the Remote Key Battery

These instructions apply to the Suzuki Swift RS (2004 - 2010). For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

If your Suzuki Swift (2004–2010, 63J) remote key fob stops unlocking the doors or works only intermittently, the most likely cause is a weak or dead battery. Replacing the battery is quick, inexpensive, and requires no special tools.

Signs the Remote Key Battery is Weak

  • The keyless entry works only at short range.

  • Buttons need to be pressed multiple times.

  • The red indicator light on the key fob does not illuminate when pressed (if equipped).

Tools & Parts Needed

  • Small flat-blade screwdriver

  • New battery (commonly CR1620 or CR2032, depending on key type – check inside your fob)

  • Soft cloth (to protect the case from scratches)

Step-by-Step: Replacing the Remote Key Battery

1. Open the Key Fob

  • Wrap the screwdriver tip in a soft cloth.

  • Insert it gently into the small slit or notch on the side of the remote.

  • Twist carefully until the case pops open.

2. Remove the Old Battery

  • Note the orientation (+ facing up or down).

  • Use the screwdriver to lift the battery out.

3. Insert the New Battery

  • Place the new coin-cell battery into the slot with the + side facing the same way as the original.

  • Ensure it sits flat and snug in the holder.

4. Close the Key Fob

  • Align the two halves of the case and press them together until you hear a click.

  • Double-check that all edges are sealed properly.

5. Test the Remote

  • Stand near your Swift and press the lock/unlock buttons.

  • If the lights flash and doors respond, the replacement was successful.

Tips for Longer Remote Battery Life

  • Avoid storing the key fob in hot places (dashboard, direct sunlight).

  • Replace the battery immediately if the remote response weakens.

  • Always use high-quality branded batteries to ensure long life.

✅ With this quick procedure, you can replace the remote key battery on your Suzuki Swift (2004–2010, 63J) in just a few minutes and restore full keyless entry function.
