Reset the Tyre Pressure Monitor (TPMS)

These instructions apply to the Porsche 718 Boxster / Cayman 982 2016-Present. For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

Last updated: June 10, 2026

If the tyre-pressure warning has come on in your Porsche 718 Boxster or Cayman (2016–present) — the 982 — after you’ve adjusted the pressures or changed a wheel, you handle it through the central display (PCM). The 718 uses sensors in the wheels and runs staggered tyres (wider rears).

After Adjusting Pressures

For a simple top-up, no manual reset is needed — just drive the car and the system re-reads the corrected pressures.

After Changing Wheels or Tyres

  1. Set the tyres to the correct cold pressures (fronts and rears differ).
  2. On the PCM / multifunction display, open the tyre-pressure page.
  3. Select the correct wheel/tyre setting (e.g. road/track, summer/winter).
  4. Drive the vehicle to complete the procedure.

If the Warning Stays On

  • Recheck every tyre against the correct front/rear figures — one below spec keeps the warning on.
  • Pick the matching wheel/tyre profile after a seasonal or track-wheel swap.
  • Drive a few minutes so the sensors report.
  • Still showing with correct pressures? A sensor may have a flat battery — look up the code on autodtcs.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I reset the tyre pressure warning on a Porsche 718?

After a top-up just drive; after a wheel/tyre change, select the correct wheel/tyre profile on the PCM tyre-pressure page and drive to confirm.

Do the front and rear pressures differ?

Yes — the 718 runs wider rear tyres, so set each axle to its own figure.

Why won’t it clear?

Usually a tyre still below spec, or the wrong wheel/tyre profile selected after a wheel change.

Do I need a tool?

No for a normal reset; a tool is only needed if a sensor is replaced.

If the warning came on with other lights, decode the code on autodtcs.com.
