Short range, or a “key battery low” note on your Skoda Karoq (NU, 2017–present), almost always means a tired coin cell in the fob. The Karoq key uses one CR2032 and you can swap it in a couple of minutes.
What You Need
One CR2032 3 V coin cell — the usual VW-group key battery, available anywhere.
Swapping the Cell
- Press the catch and pull out the metal emergency blade.
- Slide off / split the key cover using the slot the blade leaves.
- Take out the old CR2032, noting which way it faces.
- Drop the new one in the same orientation; keep fingers off the flat faces.
- Click the cover back and reinsert the blade.
Test the lock and unlock from a few paces.
If It’s Still Dead
- You can still start it — hold the fob to the start button as you press; the car reads the chip directly.
- Lock by hand using the blade in the driver’s door (under a small cap).
