After a service, the Toyota Mirai (JPD10, 2015–2020) — Toyota’s hydrogen fuel-cell saloon — shows a maintenance reminder that you clear from the central touchscreen in under a minute. Unlike older Toyotas with a trip-button sequence, the Mirai resets entirely through its Maintenance System menu. This guide shows how.
What the Reminder Means
The maintenance reminder is mileage/time-based and simply flags that the next scheduled service is due. It is not a fault — reset it once the service work has been carried out.
How to Reset the Mirai Maintenance Reminder
- Turn the ignition on (press START without your foot on the brake to reach ON, or simply power up the car ready to drive).
- On the central display, open the settings/vehicle menu and select “Maintenance System”.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the maintenance data.
- Wait until “Initialisation Completed” is shown — the reminder is reset.
If It Didn’t Reset
- Make sure you confirmed the reset — the screen shows “Initialisation Completed” only when it has taken.
- If the menu isn’t visible, scroll the vehicle-settings / maintenance section of the multimedia display — wording varies slightly by software version.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does resetting the reminder affect the fuel-cell system?
No — it only clears the scheduled-maintenance counter. It has nothing to do with the hydrogen or high-voltage systems.
Is there a trip-button shortcut like other Toyotas?
No — the Mirai uses the touchscreen “Maintenance System” menu rather than the old hold-the-trip-button method.
Why does the reminder come back?
If it returns immediately, the reset didn’t complete — repeat and wait for “Initialisation Completed”.
Is the reminder the same as a warning light?
No — the maintenance reminder is a schedule prompt. A fuel-cell, hybrid-system or other warning light is a fault and should be investigated — you can look up what a Toyota code means on autodtcs.com.
After tyre work you may also need to relearn the tyre pressures — see our Mirai TPMS reset guide.
