Home/XPENG/G3/(2021-2024)/Disconnect and Reconnect the 12V Battery

Disconnect and Reconnect the 12V Battery

These instructions apply to the XPENG G3 (2021-2024). For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

Last updated: June 10, 2026

Disconnecting the 12 V battery on your XPENG G3 (2021–2024) — for storage or before work near the airbags — is the low-voltage battery only. The high-voltage drive battery is sealed and must never be touched. The 12 V battery is in the front service compartment.

Find the 12 V Battery First

The 12 V battery is in the front service compartment (under the front lid/cover). Note your radio code and clock setting before you start.

High voltage: never touch the orange high-voltage cabling. This procedure is only the 12 V battery.

Disconnecting Safely

  1. Power the car fully off and wait a couple of minutes.
  2. Open the front service compartment to reach the battery.
  3. Disconnect the negative (−) terminal first, then the positive.
  4. Working near airbags? Wait a few minutes after disconnecting.

Reconnecting

Reconnect positive first, then negative. Afterwards:

  • Reset the date and time and re-enter the radio code.
  • Allow the car a minute to wake fully before driving.
  • If a window loses one-touch, hold the switch at each limit to relearn it.

If Something Isn’t Right Afterwards

  • Warning messages often clear after a short drive.
  • A persistent alert stores a code — look it up on autodtcs.com.
  • Fit a like-for-like 12 V battery of the correct type and rating.

Which terminal first?

Negative (−) off first, reconnect it last.

What needs resetting afterwards?

Reset the date/time and radio code; relearn the windows if one-touch is lost.

If a warning message stays on after reconnecting, look up the code on autodtcs.com.
