Trip Meter and Adjust Meter Illumination

These instructions apply to the Suzuki Swift RS (2004 - 2010). For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

The Suzuki Swift (2004–2010, 63J) is equipped with a digital trip meter and adjustable meter illumination. These features help you track mileage and customize your dashboard brightness for better visibility. Here’s how to reset the trip meter and adjust the meter illumination quickly and easily.

Why Use the Trip Meter?

  • Track mileage between fuel fill-ups.

  • Measure distances for trips.

  • Monitor fuel efficiency.

The Swift typically has Trip A and Trip B, both of which can be reset independently.

How to Reset the Trip Meter

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

  2. Press the trip meter button (located on the instrument cluster) until the display shows Trip A or Trip B.

  3. Press and hold the button for about 2 seconds.

  4. The selected trip meter will reset to 0.0 km (0.0 miles).

⚠️ Note: Resetting one trip meter does not affect the other — you can use both to track different journeys.

Why Adjust Meter Illumination?

  • Improve visibility of the gauges in low light.

  • Reduce glare during night driving.

  • Customize brightness to your preference.

How to Adjust Meter Illumination

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and ensure the headlights or parking lights are switched on.

  2. Locate the meter illumination adjustment button (usually the same as the trip meter button).

  3. Press the button repeatedly to cycle through the brightness levels.

  4. Stop at the brightness level you prefer.

⚠️ Tip: Set illumination brighter during the day and dimmer at night to reduce eye strain.

Extra Dashboard Tips

  • If the display seems too dim even at the brightest setting, check the dashboard fuse.

  • Keeping the instrument panel clean helps improve readability.

  • Always adjust brightness when stationary, not while driving.

✅ With these simple steps, you can reset the trip meter and adjust the meter illumination on your Suzuki Swift RS (2004–2010)** to suit your driving needs.
