Reset the Tyre Pressure Warning

Reviewed by the Service Reset editor · Updated September 7, 2026 · How we verify

These instructions apply to the SEAT Ibiza Mk4 (6J) 2008-2017.

The SEAT Ibiza Mk4 (6J, 2008–2017) uses an indirect tyre-pressure monitor — there are no sensors in the wheels. It watches each wheel’s rotation through the ESC/ABS, so after you inflate the tyres or change a wheel you have to store the new pressures as the reference: with the ignition on, press and hold the tyre-pressure button on the centre console until it beeps. Here is how to do it and set the pressures first.

Set Your Pressures First

Getting the pressures right is the whole job — an indirect system simply learns whatever you set. Inflate all four tyres cold to the figures on the placard inside the fuel-filler flap (use the laden column if you are carrying a full load). Winter tyres take 0.2 bar more than the summer figure. Only once the pressures are correct do you store them.

How to Reset (Store) the Tyre Pressures on the Ibiza 6J

  1. Set all four tyres to the correct cold pressure from the fuel-flap placard.
  2. Switch the ignition on (engine does not need to be running).
  3. Find the tyre-pressure button on the centre console (marked with the TPMS / tyre symbol).
  4. Press and hold that button until you hear a beep — the system stores your current pressures as the new reference and the warning light goes out.

⚠️ Always store the pressures after any change. If you inflate, deflate for a heavy load, or swap a wheel and do not re-store, the system compares the wheels against the old reference and can flag a false warning — or miss a genuinely soft tyre.

When the Light Means a Real Problem

  • A tyre is genuinely losing air: the light is doing its job — check and correct all four cold pressures, find any leak, then re-store.
  • After fitting the space-saver spare or snow chains, the light may come on because a wheel’s rolling diameter has changed; it should clear once the normal wheel is back and you re-store.
  • Light comes on at speed or on a hard-loaded axle: uneven loading (towing, a boot full of weight) changes rolling radius — set the laden pressures and re-store.
  • Flashing then steady, or with a stored code: that points to a system fault rather than a soft tyre — look the code up on autodtcs.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the tyre-pressure reset button on a SEAT Ibiza 6J?

On the centre console, marked with the tyre / TPMS symbol. With the ignition on, press and hold it until it beeps to store your current pressures.

Does the Ibiza 6J have tyre-pressure sensors?

No — it uses an indirect system that compares wheel-rotation speeds through the ESC, so it never shows an individual pressure figure. That is why you set the pressures by hand and then store them.

How do I reset the tyre-pressure light after pumping the tyres?

Correct all four cold pressures to the fuel-flap placard, switch the ignition on, then press and hold the console tyre-pressure button until it beeps.

What pressures should I use?

The exact figures for your tyre size are on the placard inside the fuel-filler flap — use the normal or laden column to suit the load, set them cold, and add 0.2 bar for winter tyres.

The light keeps coming back — why?

Usually a tyre is slowly deflating, or the pressures were a little low when you stored them. Re-check all four cold, correct them, store again; if it still returns, scan for a fault on autodtcs.com.

After tyre or seasonal-wheel work it is also worth confirming the service reminder is clear — see our SEAT Ibiza 6J service indicator reset guide.
