Specifications, Dimensions and Weights

Reviewed by the Service Reset editor · Updated October 2, 2026 · How we verify

These instructions apply to the Kia Stonic Mk1 (YB) 2017-Present.
For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

Full specifications for the Kia Stonic (YB, first generation), laid out by engine variant. The 1.0 T-GDI 100 PS column is verified from a 2020 car’s Certificate of Conformity and workshop data; the other columns cover the main European petrol and diesel engines. Figures vary by market, trim and options — confirm anything critical against your own car’s papers.

Each column is one specific vehicle — a single engine or motor and, where shown, body style. Dimensions and several weights are specific to that body and drivetrain; other body or powertrain versions differ, so match the column to your own vehicle.

Sources: Homologation (Certificate of Conformity) · Owner's manual · Workshop data. Where an owner’s manual or homologation figure exists it takes precedence; workshop data fills only what those omit. † A safety-critical figure (wheel-nut torque, spark-plug gap or A/C refrigerant) is shown only when an OEM manual or factory service manual confirms it — otherwise it is withheld; always use the official figures for your car.

A dash (—) means we haven’t yet verified that figure for that variant, not that it doesn’t exist. A variant that isn’t listed was either not sold in this market or isn’t sourced yet. Each column shows that market’s own figures on its own test standard — we don’t convert economy or emissions between markets.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does the Kia Stonic weigh?

In 1.0 T-GDI form the kerb weight is about 1,180 kg, with a 1,640 kg gross limit and a 1,000 kg braked-trailer rating. The 1.6 CRDi diesel is heavier at roughly 1,255 kg.

What are the Kia Stonic dimensions?

The Stonic is 4,140 mm long, 1,760 mm wide (excluding mirrors) and about 1,500 mm tall, on a 2,580 mm wheelbase. Boot space is around 352 litres (Kia UK figure) with the seats up.

Does the 1.0 T-GDI Stonic have a timing belt or chain?

The pre-facelift 1.0 T-GDI (engine code G3LC) uses a timing chain, not a wet belt. The wet cambelt-in-oil belongs to the later Smartstream 1.0 T-GDI (G3LE/G3LF) fitted from the 2020 facelift, so a 2017–2020 car with the G3LC engine is chain-driven.

Does the Kia Stonic have a spare wheel?

Most were supplied with a tyre mobility (repair) kit as standard, with a space-saver spare wheel offered as a factory option. Check your own boot well — a temporary spare runs at 4.2 bar (60 psi).

What tyres and pressures does it use?

Depending on trim the Stonic runs 185/65 R15 or 205/55 R17 tyres. Set them to the figures on the driver’s door-pillar label; the full table is on our Stonic tyre-pressure and TPMS reset guide.

How economical is the Kia Stonic?

The 1.0 T-GDI returns about 5.0 l/100km on the older NEDC test (115 g/km CO2), or around 6.1 l/100km WLTP. The 1.6 CRDi diesel is the most frugal at roughly 4.2 l/100km.

Disclaimer: Figures are typical for the generation and may vary by market, trim and options. Always confirm critical figures (weights, towing, tyre sizes) against your own vehicle’s documents.
