Home/Toyota/Hilux/Mk8 (AN120/AN130) 2016-2024/Change the Display Language

Change the Display Language

Reviewed by the Service Reset editor · Updated October 4, 2026 · How we verify

These instructions apply to the Toyota Hilux Mk8 (AN120/AN130) 2016-2024.
For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

If your used or imported Hilux shows the dashboard or touchscreen in the wrong language, you can switch it back yourself in the settings — the instrument display and the multimedia screen are changed separately.

Change the instrument (multi-information display) language

  1. Switch the ignition to ON mode.
  2. Use the meter switches on the steering wheel (or the display-change button) to open the display menu, and scroll to Settings.
  3. Select Language and choose your language, then confirm.

Change the touchscreen (multimedia) language

  1. Press the MENU (or APPS) button on the head unit, then Setup.
  2. Open General settings.
  3. Select Language, pick your language and confirm. The screen reloads in the new language.

On the instrument display you can also switch the units (km/miles, °C/°F) and other read-outs in the same Settings menu. Navigation voice guidance may follow the multimedia language or have its own separate setting.

FAQ

The language option is greyed out. On some trims the instrument language follows the multimedia system — change it on the touchscreen first.

Imported Japanese Hilux shows Japanese menus only. Grey-import trucks sometimes have a Japan-market head unit with no English; those usually need an aftermarket or region-matched unit rather than a settings change.
