Reset the Oil Maintenance Reminder

Reviewed by the Service Reset editor · Updated October 11, 2026 · How we verify

These instructions apply to the Nissan Rogue Mk2 (T32) 2014-2020.
For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

The 2014–2020 Nissan Rogue tracks its own oil-change interval and shows a maintenance reminder in the vehicle information display. After an oil and filter change you clear it yourself from the display menu with the steering-wheel buttons — no tool needed. This is the US-market procedure; the Rogue shares its running gear with the global Nissan X-Trail.

  1. Switch the ignition to ON (you don’t need to start the engine).
  2. Using the steering-wheel display buttons, open the Settings menu in the vehicle information display (to the left of the speedometer).
  3. Scroll to Maintenance and select it.
  4. Select Oil and Filter, then choose to reset the current reminder (the same menu lets you set the interval).

If the reminder reappears at the next start, repeat the steps and confirm you selected reset rather than just viewing the interval.

FAQ

When should I reset it?

Only after you’ve actually changed the oil and filter. The reminder counts down from the set interval, so resetting without a change leaves you tracking the wrong figure.

What oil does the Rogue take?

SAE 0W-20 (API SN or newer). The 2.5L QR25DE takes about 4.6 qt with a new filter. Confirm on your oil-fill cap.

Do I have to start the engine?

No — the ignition only needs to be ON. Starting the engine isn’t required to reach the maintenance menu.

There’s more than one maintenance item.

Reset every oil-related reminder you had set. If you’d set both an oil-interval reminder and a separate oil-and-filter reminder, clear both after the service.

The Nissan Rogue is the US-market version of the global Nissan X-Trail and shares its mechanicals — see our Nissan X-Trail guides.

If your Rogue stores a fault code with the warning light, look it up on autodtcs.com.
