Request a Service Reset Guide (VIN-Based Instructions)

Can’t find your exact vehicle in our guides? Tell us your VIN and the procedure you’re after — we’ll either point you to the existing guide for your generation or write a new one.

Why a VIN?

The same model name covers very different cars across generations and markets. A 2014 Kia Rio sold in Europe is mechanically different from a 2014 Kia Rio sold in the US, and the service-light reset procedure reflects that. Your VIN encodes the year, the assembly plant, the engine, and the equipment package — which is exactly the information we need to point you at the right procedure.

If you don’t know your VIN off the top of your head, our sister site vindecoder.site decodes it for free using the official NHTSA database (no signup, no data collection).

Request a guide

Fill in the form below with:

    t

  • Your VIN (17 characters, found on the dashboard at the base of the windscreen or on the door jamb sticker)
  • t

  • The procedure you need (reset service indicator, initialise TPMS, program a key, disable start-stop, etc.)
  • t

  • Any context that might matter (warning lights showing, recent work done, parts replaced)

We answer most requests within 3–5 working days. If we already have a guide for your generation we’ll link you straight to it. If not, we’ll add your procedure to our queue and let you know when it goes live.

What we can’t help with

    t

  • Diagnostic interpretation (e.g. “what does engine code P0420 mean?” — try autodtcs.com for that)
  • t

  • Specific repair quotes or labour-time estimates
  • t

  • Recall and warranty claims (contact your dealer or the manufacturer)
  • t

  • Anything that requires dealer-level access to your vehicle’s central server (key coding on some recent generations, immobiliser pairing, ECU re-flash)
