Set the Windscreen Wipers to Service Position

These instructions apply to the Vauxhall Corsa Mk6 (F/P2JO) 2019-Present. For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

Last updated: June 12, 2026

To change the wiper blades on a Vauxhall Corsa F (2019–present) you first need to move the wipers into their service position — the upright spot that lets the arms lift clear of the windscreen and the bonnet. If you just switch the ignition off, the wipers park low under the bonnet lip where you can’t reach them. This guide shows the simple stalk routine.

Why There’s a Service Position

The Corsa F parks its wipers tucked below the bonnet line for aerodynamics and looks. That makes the blades awkward to reach and risks bending an arm against the bonnet if you try to lift them there. The service (vertical) position raises them to the middle of the screen so they swing away freely.

How to Set the Wiper Service Position

  1. Make sure the bonnet is closed.
  2. Turn the ignition off.
  3. Within 1 minute of switching off, operate the wiper stalk (flick it as if for a single wipe).
  4. The wipers move up to the vertical service position and stop there.
  5. Lift the arms away from the glass and renew the blades.

Returning the Wipers to Normal

  1. Fold the wiper arms back down onto the screen.
  2. Turn the ignition on — the wipers move back to their normal parked position automatically.

If the Wipers Won’t Move to Service Position

  • You waited too long: the stalk only commands service position within about a minute of switching off — switch off and try again promptly.
  • Bonnet open: the function expects the bonnet closed; close it first.
  • Blades frozen to the glass: free them gently before operating, or the motor may stall.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why won’t my Corsa F wipers lift off the screen normally?

They park below the bonnet line. You must put them in the service position first, using the stalk within a minute of switching the ignition off.

Do I need any tools?

No — it’s done entirely with the ignition and wiper stalk. Only blade replacement itself needs your hands.

How do I get them back to normal?

Fold the arms down and turn the ignition on — the wipers return to their parked position by themselves.

Can I damage the arms by lifting them at the parked position?

Yes — forcing them up against the bonnet can bend an arm or strain the linkage. Always use the service position.
