Reset the Tyre Pressure Warning Light

These instructions apply to the Honda HR-V Mk2 (RU) 2015-2022. For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

Last updated: June 5, 2026

When the tyre-pressure warning light comes on in your Honda HR-V Mk2 (RU, 2015–2022), it usually just means the system — Honda’s Deflation Warning System — needs to relearn your current pressures after a check, top-up or wheel change. You reset it from the dashboard menu (or, on cars with a TPMS button, by holding the button). This guide shows both.

How the HR-V System Works

The Mk2 HR-V monitors the wheel-speed signals and stores a baseline for your set pressures, which is why you must re-initialise it whenever you change the pressures — otherwise it compares against the old reference and may warn (or stay quiet) incorrectly.

Set Your Pressures First

The reset stores whatever pressures are in the tyres at that moment, so they must be correct first. Set all four (cold) to the figures on the placard on the driver’s door pillar, using the laden column for a full load. Never reset with a tyre already low.

Cars Without a TPMS Button — Reset From the Menu

  1. Make sure all four tyres are at the correct cold pressure.
  2. Turn the ignition on (do not start the engine) and put the gearbox in N or P.
  3. Press and hold the “INFO” button until the service display appears in the menu.
  4. Press and hold “INFO” for 3 seconds, then scroll and select “CUSTOMIZE SETTINGS”.
  5. Press “SEL/RESET”, select “DEFLATION WARNING SYSTEM”, press SEL/RESET again, then choose “INITIALISE”.
  6. Wait until “COMPLETED” appears. Repeat if necessary.

Cars With a TPMS Button

  1. Set all four cold pressures correctly and turn the ignition on.
  2. Press and hold the TPMS button for 3 seconds — the warning light flashes twice to confirm.
  3. Drive for about 20 minutes, keeping your speed above 40 km/h (25 mph), to store the new pressures.

Light Won’t Go Out? Work Through This

  • A tyre is genuinely low: the system is doing its job — find and fix the leak, re-inflate, then re-initialise.
  • Initialise not completed: repeat the menu steps and wait for “COMPLETED”, or hold the button until the light flashes twice.
  • Light stays on with correct pressures: a persistent fault may be stored — you can look up what a code means on autodtcs.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I find the reset in the menu?

Hold INFO until the service display shows, hold INFO 3 seconds, select CUSTOMIZE SETTINGS, press SEL/RESET, then DEFLATION WARNING SYSTEM → INITIALISE, and wait for COMPLETED.

Do I have to drive after resetting?

On the button system, yes — a 20-minute drive above 40 km/h stores the pressures. The menu method completes on screen but a short drive confirms it.

Why does the light return after a few days?

Either a tyre is slowly losing air, or you initialised while a tyre was already low. Re-check all four cold pressures and re-initialise.

Do I need to reset after just topping up the air?

Yes — any pressure change shifts the baseline, so re-initialise after any adjustment.

After tyre or seasonal-wheel work it is worth confirming the service reminder is clear — see our Honda HR-V service indicator reset guide.
