After adjusting the tyre pressures or changing a wheel on your BMW X3 (G01, 2017–present), you tell the system the pressures are correct through the iDrive menu — it then learns them as you drive. Here’s how to clear the warning.
Set the Pressures First
Inflate all four tyres cold to the figure on the driver’s door-pillar label, then perform the reset.
How to Reset the X3 Tyre Pressure Monitor
- With the pressures set, switch the ignition on (engine running is fine).
- On iDrive, open ‘Vehicle’ (or ‘CAR’) → ‘Vehicle status’ → ‘Tyre Pressure Monitor’.
- Select ‘Perform reset’ (or ‘Reset’) and confirm.
- Drive off — the system learns the new pressures as the reference over a few minutes.
If the Light Stays On
- Re-check every tyre — one low corner keeps the warning on.
- Always perform the reset after inflating or a wheel change so the baseline matches.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I reset the tyre pressure light on a BMW X3?
Set the pressures, then in iDrive go to Vehicle → Vehicle status → Tyre Pressure Monitor → Perform reset, and drive off.
Do I need a tool?
No — the X3’s system relearns from the iDrive reset; no garage equipment needed.
Why does the light come on in cold weather?
Pressures drop as temperature falls. Top up to the label figure and perform the reset.
It came on after a wheel change — why?
The reference moved. Run ‘Perform reset’ so the new pressures become the baseline.
