After adjusting pressures, rotating wheels or fitting a different set on your BMW 2 Series (G42, 2021–present), you tell the system to learn the new values as its reference. BMW does this through the iDrive screen — no tool required.
Set the Pressures First
Inflate all four tyres cold to the figures on the door-pillar label, then reset. The system memorises whatever is in the tyres at reset time, so get them right first.
Resetting via iDrive
- Set the correct cold pressures and switch the ignition on.
- Open iDrive → Vehicle / Vehicle settings → Tyre Pressure Monitor.
- Select ‘Reset’ / ‘Perform Reset’ and confirm.
- Drive off — the system establishes the new baseline as you go.
If the Light Stays On
- Recheck every tyre — one odd corner triggers it.
- Always reset after inflating so the reference matches.
- A genuine slow puncture keeps the warning on — inspect before resetting.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I reset the tyre pressure light on a BMW 2 Series?
Set the pressures, then in iDrive go to Vehicle → Tyre Pressure Monitor → Reset and confirm; drive to complete it.
Is a tool needed?
No — the G42 relearns through iDrive and driving.
Why did it light up in cold weather?
Cold air lowers pressure; top up to the label figure and reset.
It lit after a wheel swap — normal?
Yes — reset so the new wheels become the reference.
