Replace the Key Fob Battery

If the key fob on your GWM Steed (2009–2020) — the Great Wall Steed pickup — has gone weak or the locking has become intermittent, the coin cell inside is almost certainly flat. It’s a quick swap.

Battery First — What You Need

• A coin cell — typically a CR2032 (check the marking on the old one when you open the fob).
• A small flat screwdriver.

Replacing the Cell

1. Use a screwdriver to ease the fob case apart at the seam.
2. Remove the old cell (don’t touch the terminals).
3. Fit the new cell, observing the correct polarity.
4. Close the case and check the remote locks and unlocks the truck.

Lost Key or Adding a Spare

A cell swap keeps the existing coding. A lost or broken key can only be ordered and programmed by a dealer — there’s no owner sequence.

• Check the polarity — an upside-down cell won’t work.
