To change the wiper blades or lift them off the glass in winter on a Citroën Berlingo Mk3 (K9, 2018–present), the arms need to be in their service position — standing up clear of the bonnet edge. If you just switch off, the arms park low under the bonnet lip where you can’t reach them. Here’s how to raise them.
Why You Need the Service Position
The Berlingo’s wipers park tucked below the bonnet trim. Forcing them up from there can bend an arm or crack the trim, so Citroën provides a service-position mode.
How to Set the Wiper Service Position
- Make sure the bonnet is closed.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Within 1 minute, operate the wipers (push the wiper stalk) — the arms sweep up to the vertical service position.
- Lift the arms away from the glass to change the blades or clear snow.
Returning Them to Park
Fold the arms back onto the glass, then turn the ignition on and operate the wipers — they return to the normal parked position.
If the Wipers Won’t Lift
- You missed the 1-minute window — switch off and try again promptly.
- The bonnet isn’t fully latched — make sure it’s closed.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I put the Citroën Berlingo wipers in service position?
Turn the ignition off, then within 1 minute operate the wipers; the arms rise to vertical.
Why won’t my wipers move up to be changed?
They park under the bonnet lip on purpose. Use the service-position mode rather than forcing them.
How do I get them back down?
Fold them onto the glass, turn the ignition on and operate the wipers.
Do I need a tool?
No — it’s done with the wiper stalk only.
