If the one-touch (auto) function on your Daihatsu Terios (J2, 2006–2017) has stopped working — usually after a battery disconnection or a flat battery — the driver’s window just needs re-initialising. It’s a quick job with no tools.
When You Need This
- After disconnecting or replacing the 12 V battery.
- If the window only moves while you hold the switch and won’t auto-close.
Re-initialising the Window
- Turn the ignition on and close the door.
- Raise the window fully with the switch and keep holding briefly after it stops.
- Lower the window fully and keep holding briefly after it stops.
- Raise it fully again — the auto function should now work.
If It Still Won’t Work
- Hold at each limit for a moment after the window stops.
- Re-seat the battery connections if you’ve just done battery work.
- A motor or switch fault can store a code — look it up on autodtcs.com.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why did my Terios auto window stop working?
Disconnecting the battery wipes the window calibration — re-initialise it.
Do I need a tool?
No — it’s done with the window switch alone.
Which window has the auto function?
Usually the driver’s — re-initialise whichever window has one-touch.
What does holding at the limit do?
It teaches the module the full travel, restoring the auto function.
If you’ve just reconnected the battery, see our Terios battery guide.
