If the key fob on your Genesis GV60 (JW, 2022–2024) has gone weak or the central locking has become intermittent, the coin cell inside is almost certainly flat. It takes a CR2450 — a larger cell than many fobs, so check before you buy.
Battery First — What You Need
- A CR2450 coin cell (not the smaller CR2032).
- A small flat screwdriver.
Replacing the Cell
- Press button (A) and remove the ring / slide out the mechanical key.
- Insert a screwdriver in the seam and remove the key cover.
- Remove the old cell.
- Fit a new CR2450, observing the correct polarity.
- Refit the cover and check the remote locks and unlocks the car.
Lost Key or Adding a Spare
A cell swap keeps the existing coding. A lost or broken key can only be ordered and programmed by a Genesis dealer with a diagnostic tool — there’s no owner sequence.
If a Fresh Cell Doesn’t Help
- Make sure it’s a CR2450 — a thinner cell won’t make proper contact.
- Hold the fob to the start button to start with a dead fob.
