These instructions apply to the Hyundai Tucson Mk3 (TL) 2015-2020.

The cabin (pollen) filter on the Hyundai Tucson Mk3 (TL, 2015–2020) cleans the air coming through the heater and air conditioning. When it clogs, airflow from the vents drops and the windscreen can mist up even on fresh-air mode. It sits behind the glovebox and is a 10-minute job with no tools.
When to Replace It
- Weak airflow from the vents, or persistent misting on the inside of the windscreen.
- A musty smell when the fan or air conditioning runs.
- As routine maintenance — typically once a year or every 15,000 km, more often in dusty conditions.
Where It Is
Hyundai mounts the interior filter behind the glovebox, in the heater housing. You reach it by dropping the glovebox down past its stops — there is no need to remove any trim or undo screws.
How to Replace the Cabin Filter
- Open the glovebox and empty it.
- Squeeze the sides of the glovebox inward so the two stop tabs clear their slots, then lower the glovebox fully down.
- Behind it you’ll see the rectangular filter cover. Press its side clip and pull the cover off.
- Slide the old filter out, noting the airflow arrow printed on its frame (it points down).
- Fit the new filter the same way round, arrow pointing down.
- Refit the cover until it clicks, then lift the glovebox back onto its stops.
Tips
Buy the filter by your car’s build year, as later facelift cars can use a slightly different size. Fitting it upside down (arrow up) cuts airflow and shortens its life, so check the arrow before it goes in.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the pollen filter on a Hyundai Tucson Mk3?
Behind the glovebox, in the heater housing. Drop the glovebox past its stops and the filter cover is directly behind it.
Do I need any tools?
No. The glovebox releases by hand and the filter cover unclips, so the whole job is tool-free.
Which way does the filter go in?
With the airflow arrow on the frame pointing down. Fitting it the wrong way round reduces airflow through the vents.
