Reset the Tyre Pressure Monitor (TPMS)

Last updated: June 6, 2026

If the tyre-pressure warning light on your Jeep Compass (MP, 2017–present) has come on after you’ve adjusted the pressures or changed a wheel, you usually just need to let the system relearn — which the Compass does by driving, not by a button. Here’s how.

When to Reset

  • After checking or adjusting the tyre pressures.
  • After changing one or more wheels or tyres.
  • After rotating the tyres.

Resetting the System

  1. Set all four tyres to the correct pressures (label on the driver’s door pillar) — the system stores whatever is set.
  2. Drive the Compass for about 20 minutes at a steady speed above 25 km/h (around 15 mph).
  3. The new pressures are stored and the warning light goes out.

If the Light Stays On

  • Recheck every tyre (including a sensored spare) — one low tyre keeps the light on and blocks the relearn.
  • Drive a little further above 25 km/h to let it settle.
  • Still lit with correct pressures? A sensor may have a flat battery or fault — look up the code on autodtcs.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I reset the tyre pressure light on a Jeep Compass?

Set all tyres correctly, then drive about 20 minutes above 25 km/h — the system relearns and the light clears.

Is there a reset button?

No — the Compass relearns by driving once the pressures are right.

Why won’t the light go out?

Usually a tyre still below spec, or not enough steady driving above 25 km/h.

Do I need a tool?

No for a normal reset; a tool is only needed when a sensor is replaced and must be matched to the car.

If the warning came on with other lights, decode the code on autodtcs.com.
