Disconnecting the 12 V battery on your Lynk & Co 01 (2017–2024) — for a new battery, winter storage, or work near the airbags — is a straightforward job. The battery is in the engine compartment.
Find the Battery First
The 12 V battery is in the engine compartment (the 01 shares Volvo’s CMA platform). Note your radio presets before you start.
Plug-in hybrid models: there’s also a high-voltage system — never touch the orange high-voltage cabling. This procedure is only the 12 V battery.
Disconnecting Safely
- Switch everything off, key away, and keep the key out of range.
- Disconnect the negative (−) terminal first, then the positive.
- Working near airbags or pretensioners? Wait a few minutes after disconnecting.
Reconnecting and Re-initialising
Reconnect positive first, then negative. The car then needs a few items settled:
- Power windows — re-initialise one-touch (hold the switch at the limits).
- Sunroof/tailgate may need re-initialising on first use.
- Re-enter the clock and presets.
If Something Isn’t Right Afterwards
- Warning lights often clear after a short drive.
- A persistent light stores a code — look it up on autodtcs.com.
- Fit a like-for-like battery — an AGM/EFB unit of the correct rating for the stop/start system.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the battery on a Lynk & Co 01?
In the engine compartment — it shares the Volvo CMA layout.
Which terminal first?
Negative (−) off first, reconnect it last.
Is the plug-in hybrid different?
It has a separate high-voltage system — don’t touch the orange cabling; you still service the 12 V battery.
Do I need to recode anything?
Windows (and sunroof/tailgate) may need re-initialising, plus the clock and presets.
If a warning light stays on after reconnecting, look up the code on autodtcs.com.
