Reset the Tyre Pressure Warning

Reviewed by the Service Reset editor · Updated September 7, 2026 · How we verify

These instructions apply to the MG HS Mk2 2024-present.
For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

The MG HS Mk2 (2024–present) uses a self-learning tyre-pressure monitor with no reset button — after you adjust the pressures or change a wheel it relearns as you drive. Set the tyres correctly, park the locked car for about 25 minutes, then take a short drive and the warning clears itself. Here are the pressures to set and exactly how the relearn works.

Recommended Tyre Pressures for the MG HS

The exact figure is on the placard on the driver’s B-pillar (visible with the door open). As a guide, MG’s own cold figures are:

ModelFront & rear (cold)
Petrol (1.5T / 2.0T)2.3 bar (230 kPa / 34 psi)
Hybrid+ & Plug-in (HEV / PHEV)2.5 bar (250 kPa / 37 psi)
Space-saver spare4.2 bar (420 kPa / 60 psi)

Always set them cold. For heavy loads or towing, raise the rear pressures by about 0.2 bar (never above 3.0 bar). The current pressures are shown on the infotainment display.

How to Reset (Relearn) the MG HS Tyre Pressures

  1. Set all four tyres to the correct cold pressure from the B-pillar placard.
  2. Power off and lock the vehicle for about 25 minutes.
  3. Then drive for about 15 minutes at over 25 mph (40 km/h), making several turns during the journey.
  4. The system relearns your pressures as the new baseline and the warning light goes out.

⚠️ There is no button or menu reset. The HS learns passively as you drive, so the 25-minute park and the driving cycle are both needed — a quick move on the driveway will not complete it.

If the Light Won’t Go Out

  • A tyre is genuinely low: the system is doing its job — find the leak, reinflate all four cold to the placard figure, then drive the relearn again.
  • Not driven far/long enough: give it a continuous run above 40 km/h rather than short stop-start trips.
  • After fitting a new sensor: it must be an original factory part; if the light stays on the relearn has failed — repeat the park-and-drive cycle.
  • A flashing then steady light, or a stored code, points to a system fault rather than a soft tyre — look it up on autodtcs.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the tyre-pressure reset button on the MG HS Mk2?

There isn’t one. The HS relearns automatically — set the correct pressures, park locked for 25 minutes, then drive about 15 minutes above 40 km/h.

What pressure should the MG HS tyres be?

About 2.3 bar (34 psi) on the petrol models and 2.5 bar (37 psi) on the Hybrid+/plug-in, front and rear, set cold. Your exact figure is on the driver’s B-pillar placard.

Why does the pressures differ on the hybrid?

The Hybrid+ and plug-in HS are heavier (battery and motor), so MG specifies slightly higher pressures — 2.5 bar versus 2.3 bar on the petrol.

Do I need a tool to reset it?

No. The tyre-pressure relearn is a park-and-drive cycle with no tool. (The separate service-interval reminder does need a tool — see our MG HS service reset guide.)

The light came back after a cold night — why?

Cold air lowers pressure; top the affected tyre to the placard figure and drive the relearn again.
