A flat 12 V battery is the most common reason a Nissan Qashqai J10 (2006–2013) won’t start. If the lights and dash are weak or dead, you can jump-start it from another 12 V vehicle or a jump pack. The battery is in the engine bay.
How to jump-start a Nissan Qashqai J10
- Park the donor car close (not touching), switch both cars off and put both in park/neutral with handbrakes on.
- Connect the red lead to the flat battery’s positive (+), then to the donor’s positive (+).
- Connect the black lead to the donor’s negative (−), then to a bare metal earth point on your car’s engine — not the flat battery’s negative post.
- Start the donor car, let it run a few minutes, then start your Nissan Qashqai J10.
- Once running, remove the leads in reverse order and drive for 20–30 minutes to recharge.
Use a proper jump pack or leads, and never let the clamps touch each other. If the battery goes flat again quickly, it’s likely worn out or there’s a drain to trace.
