When the remote on your Nissan Titan (A60, 2004–2015) starts working only from close range, or the lock/unlock buttons stop responding, the coin cell inside the key fob is almost certainly flat. Replacing it takes a couple of minutes and one inexpensive battery.
Which Battery You Need
The A60 Titan remote uses a single CR2025 3-volt lithium coin cell (or equivalent). Buy a fresh one — cells that have sat on a shelf for years may already be weak.
How to Replace the Key Fob Battery
- Note how the remote is assembled before you open it, so you can line the halves up again.
- Prise the fob apart at the seam with a small flat screwdriver wrapped in tape to avoid marking the case.
- Lift out the old coin cell, noting which way up it sits (the + face position).
- Fit the new CR2025 the same way round. Avoid touching the flat faces with bare fingers, and keep dust and oil off the cell and contacts.
- Close the lid securely so the two halves click fully together.
- Press a button two or three times to confirm the remote now operates.
If the Remote Still Does Not Work
Check the new cell is the right way up and seated firmly, and that the contacts are clean. If the buttons still do nothing with a known-good battery, the remote may need re-syncing to the truck or may have an internal fault. The A60 also unlocks and starts with the mechanical key, so a dead remote never leaves you stranded.
Frequently Asked Questions
What battery does the A60 Titan key fob take? A CR2025 3-volt lithium coin cell, or an equivalent from another brand.
Do I need to reprogram the remote after changing the battery? No — swapping the cell does not erase the remote’s programming. If it has genuinely lost sync, that is a separate re-registration step.
The range is short even with a new battery — why? Weak aftermarket cells, a dirty contact, or a worn button membrane can all shorten range. Try a fresh branded CR2025 first.
Will the truck still start with a dead fob? Yes. The A60 uses a conventional ignition key, so a flat remote battery does not stop you unlocking or starting the vehicle.
