Pathfinders in the Nissan Pathfinder (R51, 2005–2012) range fitted with the vehicle information display can show maintenance-interval reminders — a “maintenance due” notice for engine oil, the oil filter, tires or a job you set yourself. After the work is done you reset the reminder’s distance to zero so it counts down again, all from the dashboard.
How the Reminder Works
Each reminder has an interval you set, and the system counts the distance since the last reset. When the interval is reached and the reminder is switched on, a maintenance notice appears the next time you turn the ignition on. Resetting after a service starts the count again from zero.
How to Reset a Maintenance Reminder
It is done from the INFO button and the NISSAN controller on the display.
- Switch the ignition to ON.
- Press the INFO button, select the Maintenance key with the NISSAN controller and press ENTER — the maintenance information appears.
- Choose the reminder you have just serviced (Reminder 1–4, e.g. engine oil, oil filter or tires).
- Select the “Reset Distance” key and press ENTER to return that reminder’s distance to 0.
- To change how often it warns, select the “Interval” key, set the new distance, and press BACK to accept.
- Make sure “Interval Reminder ON” is selected if you want the notice to reappear at the next interval.
If the Notice Keeps Appearing
The maintenance notice shows at each start until the Reset is done or the reminder is switched off. If it returns immediately after a reset, go back into the Maintenance menu and confirm that item’s distance now reads zero. To stop being reminded for a particular item, set its reminder to off.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this reset an oil-life or service light? It resets the owner-set maintenance-interval reminder on the information display. The R51 has no separate resettable service light — this reminder is the equivalent.
Which items can I track? Engine oil, oil filter, tires and other jobs you define, each with its own interval (Reminder 1–4).
Do I need a scan tool? No — the reset is done entirely from the dashboard INFO menu.
My Pathfinder has no such menu. The feature depends on the display fitted; models without the vehicle information display do not carry it and have no reminder to reset.
If a warning light other than a maintenance notice is showing, our sister site autodtcs.com lists engine trouble codes.
