The low-tire-pressure light on the Nissan Leaf (ZE0, 2011–2017) is run by a monitoring system that re-checks itself as you drive. There is no reset button and no tool needed — correct the pressures and a short drive clears the warning. Keeping tires at the right pressure also helps the Leaf’s driving range.
How It Works
A sensor in each wheel reports its pressure. When a tire falls well below the recommended cold figure, the warning light comes on. Once you set all four tires back to the correct pressure and drive, the system reads the corrected values and turns the light off by itself.
Turning Off the Warning Light
- Read the recommended cold pressures from the placard in the driver’s door opening — check them cold, before driving or after the car has stood a few hours.
- Inflate all four tires to that figure with an accurate gauge.
- Confirm none is high or low — the system compares all four.
- Drive at 16 mph (25 km/h) or more for a few minutes to activate the TPMS.
- The low-tire-pressure light goes out once the corrected pressures are confirmed.
If the Light Stays On
A warning that flashes for about a minute at every start and then holds steady is a system fault rather than low air — usually a failed sensor or one with a dead battery, which needs equipment to identify. If a sensor has been replaced it may need its ID registered before it works again. If the light simply stays on steady, re-check every tire with a trusted gauge; a slow leak will keep bringing it back.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a TPMS reset button? No. The ZE0 Leaf relearns pressures automatically as you drive.
I inflated the tires but the light stayed on. Drive above 16 mph for a few minutes so the sensors are re-read.
What does a flashing-then-steady light mean? A TPMS fault, not simply low pressure — typically a sensor or its battery.
Does tire pressure affect my range? Yes — under-inflated tires increase rolling resistance and cut range, so keeping them at the placard pressure helps.
