These instructions apply to the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Mk3 (K2XX) 2014-2018.

The 2014–2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (K2XX) has a direct TPMS with a sensor in every wheel. After a tire rotation or a sensor swap, the truck has to relearn which sensor sits at which corner. On uplevel-DIC trucks you do it yourself in TIRE LEARNING mode with an inexpensive GM relearn tool. This is the US-market procedure.
- Set all four tires to the door-jamb placard pressure. Park, apply the brake, and switch the ignition to ON (engine off).
- Use the DIC buttons to reach the tire-pressure page, then press and hold to enter TIRE LEARNING. The horn sounds twice, “TIRE LEARNING ACTIVE” shows, and the system starts at the driver-front wheel.
- Hold a GM TPMS relearn tool (an EL-50448 or equivalent, about $15) flat against the driver-front valve stem and press it until the horn chirps — that sensor is learned.
- Repeat in order — passenger-front, then passenger-rear, then driver-rear — waiting for the chirp at each.
- After the driver-rear, the horn sounds twice: learning is complete and the message clears. Switch off and drive.
You have two minutes for the first wheel and five minutes overall; if it times out, start again from TIRE LEARNING.
FAQ
Do I need a tool?
Yes — a GM-compatible relearn tool (EL-50448, about $15) triggers each sensor in turn. It’s a cheap DIY buy, not a dealer-only item. Some owners trigger a sensor by briefly deflating the tire, but the tool is far more reliable.
My DIC has no “Tire Learning” option.
Base Silverados with the low-level DIC don’t expose TIRE LEARNING — those trucks need a shop or a scan tool to relearn.
What order do the wheels go in?
Driver-front, passenger-front, passenger-rear, driver-rear.
The light is still on afterward.
Re-check all four pressures cold against the placard and repeat the relearn; a sensor may be flat-batteried and need replacing.
If your Silverado stores a TPMS fault code with the light, look it up on autodtcs.com before re-learning.
