A clogged cabin (pollen) filter is the usual cause of weak airflow, misting windows or a musty smell in a Nissan Qashqai J10 (2006–2013). On this car the filter sits behind a panel in the footwell, beside the pedals, and swapping it is a straightforward owner job.
How to replace the cabin filter on a Nissan Qashqai J10
- In the driver’s footwell, release the clips holding the lower side partition panel and take it off.
- Prise off the lower part of the filter box cover.
- Pull the old filter out by hand and fit the new one the same way round (watch the airflow arrow).
- Refit the cover and partition panel.
Fit a new filter every year or two, sooner if you drive in heavy traffic or dusty areas. Always match the airflow-direction arrow printed on the filter, or airflow and demisting will suffer.
