A clogged cabin (pollen) filter is the usual cause of weak airflow, misting windows or a musty smell in a Citroën C3 (2016–2024). On this car the filter sits in the engine bay, under the cover on the left of the windscreen (the scuttle/plenum), and swapping it is a straightforward owner job.
How to replace the cabin filter on a Citroën C3
- Open the bonnet and pull off the cover on the left of the windscreen frame.
- Open the filter retaining rack by pulling it towards you.
- Pull out the old filter (it comes in two parts) and fit the new one with the airflow arrows pointing down.
- Close the rack and refit the cover.
Fit a new filter every year or two, sooner if you drive in heavy traffic or dusty areas. Always match the airflow-direction arrow printed on the filter, or airflow and demisting will suffer.
