Program a Remote Key Fob

These instructions apply to the Daihatsu Cuore Mk7 (L276) 2007-2012.

If your Daihatsu Cuore (L276) has a central-locking remote that has stopped working — or you’ve bought a replacement — you can re-program it yourself. The car holds up to two remotes, and the sequence erases all previously stored codes, so program every remote you want to keep in one go.

Programming a remote control

  1. Sit in the driver’s seat with all the remotes you want to register, and remove the key from the ignition switch.
  2. Press the lock button on the first remote once.
  3. Disconnect the battery earth (negative) lead, then reconnect it. This puts the body computer into programming mode.
  4. Close all the doors. The next steps are time-sensitive.
  5. Within 15 seconds, press and hold the lock and unlock buttons together for at least five seconds. The door locks will cycle to confirm.
  6. Within 5 seconds of that, press the lock button on its own for at least one second. The locks cycling again means that remote is now programmed.
  7. To add the second remote, repeat the last two steps with it within 15 seconds: hold lock + unlock together for five seconds, then press lock for one second.
  8. When you’ve programmed every remote, do nothing further. Programming mode exits on its own once the time limit passes, and the stored remotes are ready to use.

Remember that any remote you don’t include in this sequence will stop working, because the procedure clears the old codes first. Always re-register the remotes you intend to keep.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many remotes can the Cuore store?

Up to two. If you program only one, any others — including a spare you forgot to include — will no longer unlock the car until you run the sequence again with all of them.

My remote still won’t work after programming — now what?

First fit a fresh coin cell to the remote and try again, since a weak cell can fail mid-sequence. If a new battery and a repeat of the procedure don’t help, the remote may be faulty or not compatible with the L276’s receiver.

Does this program a new ignition key as well?

No. This sequence only pairs the central-locking remote. A new transponder ignition key has to be coded to the immobiliser with diagnostic equipment.
