Reset the Tire Pressure Monitor (TPMS)

Reviewed by the Service Reset editor · Updated October 14, 2026 · How we verify

These instructions apply to the Ford Mustang Mk6 (S550) 2015-2023.
For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

The 2015–2023 Ford Mustang (S550) has a direct TPMS with a sensor in each wheel, and no owner relearn — the low-pressure light clears on its own once the pressures are right. This is the US-market procedure.

  1. Set all four tires to the correct cold pressure from the placard.
  2. Drive for at least 2 minutes above 20 mph (32 km/h) and the light turns off by itself.

If the tires are correct and no spare is fitted but the light stays on, a sensor needs a dealer activation tool — there’s no DIY training sequence. The cold pressures are on the driver-side B-pillar placard; the Mustang often runs staggered sizes (wider rear), so follow the placard exactly.

FAQ

Is there a reset button?

No — correct the cold pressures and drive a couple of minutes above 20 mph; the light clears itself.

Why does it run different front and rear sizes?

Performance Mustangs use staggered wheels (wider rears), so front and rear pressures can differ — read the placard.

Light won’t clear.

A sensor fault or new wheels without sensors needs a dealer; the spare being fitted also keeps it on.

If your Mustang stores a fault code with the warning light, look it up on autodtcs.com.
