Reset the Tyre Pressure Monitor (TPMS)

These instructions apply to the Mercedes C-Class Mk4 (W205) 2014-2023. For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

Last updated: June 5, 2026

When the tyre-pressure warning comes on in your Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W205, 2014–2023), it usually means the system needs to store your current pressures as the new reference — not that a sensor has failed. You reset it through the instrument-cluster menu and a short drive. This guide shows how.

When to Reset

  • After checking or adjusting the tyre pressures (including seasonal changes).
  • After changing one or more wheels or tyres.
  • After rotating the wheels front-to-back.

Set Your Pressures First

The reset stores whatever pressures are in the tyres at that moment, so they must be correct first. Set all four (cold) to the figures on the placard in the driver’s door aperture or fuel flap, using the laden column for a full load. Never reset with a tyre already low.

How to Reset (Re-store) the W205 Tyre Pressures

  1. Make sure the bonnet, boot and all doors are closed and the pressures are correct and cold.
  2. Turn the ignition on.
  3. Using the touchpad / steering-wheel buttons, scroll the instrument-cluster menu and select “Service”.
  4. Confirm, then select “Tyre pressure”.
  5. Choose “Adopt current pressures as new guideline values” (Restart). The display confirms “Tyre pressure monitoring restarted”.
  6. Turn the ignition off, then drive for about 5 minutes to store the new values.

Light Won’t Go Out? Work Through This

  • A tyre is genuinely low: the system is doing its job — find and fix the leak, re-inflate, then re-store.
  • Not stored: repeat the menu steps and make sure you confirm “Adopt current pressures”, then drive.
  • Warning shows a specific wheel: that wheel is low — correct it first.
  • Persistent warning with correct pressures: a fault may be stored — look up the code on autodtcs.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the tyre-pressure reset on a W205?

In the instrument-cluster menu: Service → Tyre pressure → Adopt current pressures (Restart). Then drive about 5 minutes.

Do I have to drive after resetting?

Yes — the W205 stores the new values over about 5 minutes of driving after you restart the monitoring.

Why does the warning come back a few days later?

Either a tyre is slowly losing air, or you re-stored while a tyre was already low. Re-check all four cold pressures and reset again.

Do I need to reset after just topping up the air?

Yes — any pressure change shifts the reference, so re-store after any adjustment.

After tyre or seasonal-wheel work it is worth confirming the service reminder is clear — see our Mercedes C-Class W205 service indicator reset guide.
