If the one-touch (auto up/down) windows on your Peugeot 3008 Mk2 (P84, 2016–present) have stopped working — or now only move while you hold the switch, usually after the battery was disconnected or went flat — each window needs re-initialising so it relearns its travel. It’s a quick no-tools job. This guide shows the Peugeot routine.
Why One-Touch Stops Working
Each window motor stores its top and bottom positions so the auto function and the anti-trap (pinch protection) know where the glass stops. Cutting power clears that memory, so the window only inches while you hold the switch. Re-initialising restores normal operation.
How to Re-initialise the 3008 Mk2 Windows
Do this for the driver’s window first, then repeat for each other window from its own switch:
- Turn the ignition on.
- Press and hold the open switch until the window is fully open, then release.
- Pull and hold the close switch until the window is fully closed (pull again if it stops part way, until it’s right at the top).
- With the window closed, press and hold the close switch for 4 seconds.
- Then press and hold the open switch for 4 seconds.
- Close the window. One-touch is now re-taught for that window.
- Repeat for the passenger and rear windows.
If It Still Won’t Auto-Close
- Repeat the procedure — the 4-second holds at the limits are what register the travel.
- Make sure the glass reaches the very top and bottom — grit or ice in the runner can stop it short.
- After a battery disconnection this is the step Peugeot lists to restore the windows, so run it alongside any battery work.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why did my 3008 windows lose auto after the battery was off?
Disconnecting power wipes the stored positions, so auto and anti-trap switch off until you re-teach each window.
The window only moves while I hold the switch — same fault?
Yes. The open/close-and-hold routine re-teaches it and one-touch returns.
The window bounces back down when closing — why?
That’s the anti-trap protection reacting because the travel isn’t learned. Complete the routine and it clears.
Do I need any tools?
No — just the door switches with the ignition on.
