Where the Battery Is
The 12 V battery sits in the engine bay, under a cover. The petrol (TSI) and diesel (TDI) Tiguan has no high-voltage system to worry about — only the eHybrid plug-in does, and that’s a different job.
Disconnecting
- Switch the ignition off, remove the key/keyless fob and wait a minute for the electronics to sleep.
- Disconnect the negative (−) terminal first and tuck the lead aside.
- If removing the battery, disconnect the positive (+) next, then the clamp and cover.
Reconnecting & Re-teaching
- Reconnect positive (+) first, then negative (−) last.
- Reset the clock; the infotainment reloads on its own.
