Home/Volkswagen/T-Cross/Mk1 (C11) 2019-Present/Reset the Service Indicator

Reset the Service Indicator

These instructions apply to the Volkswagen T-Cross Mk1 (C11) 2019-Present. For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

Last updated: June 6, 2026

A “Service” or “Inspection” message on your Volkswagen T-Cross (C11, 2019–present) means a maintenance interval is up. It’s a quick fix from the driver’s seat with the trip-reset button — no workshop tester needed. Do the oil and filter change first.

Reset Only After the Work

The interval just counts mileage and time, so clearing it early simply hides the reminder while the oil keeps ageing.

How to Reset the T-Cross Service Indicator

  1. Turn the ignition off.
  2. Press and hold the 0.0 / trip-reset button on the wiper stalk or dash.
  3. Keeping it held, switch the ignition on, then release.
  4. The display asks ‘Reset oil change service?’ — press the button once more to confirm.
  5. If oil and inspection are listed separately, repeat for the inspection prompt.

Cars with the digital cockpit can also reset via the cluster/infotainment Settings → Service menu.

If the Reminder Returns

  • It reappears at start-up — the confirmation wasn’t completed; run it again.
  • It’s a different symbol — that’s a fault, not the service timer.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I reset the service light on a VW T-Cross?

Ignition off, hold the trip-reset button, switch the ignition on, release, then press again at the ‘Reset oil change service?’ prompt.

Do I need a diagnostic tool?

No — the trip-button method does it from the dashboard.

Why two separate resets?

VW counts oil-change and inspection intervals independently; reset whichever is prompted, and both after a full service.

Does the engine need to run?

No — ignition on with the engine off is correct.

If a warning light came on with the service message, identify it on autodtcs.com. After battery work, see our T-Cross battery guide.
