Disconnect and Reconnect the Battery

Taking the 12 V battery off a Volkswagen T-Cross (C11, 2019–present) is a simple under-bonnet task. Here’s the safe order plus what to re-teach once power is back.

Battery Location

The 12 V battery sits in the engine bay beneath a cover. The T-Cross is petrol-only in most markets and has no high-voltage system to worry about.

Taking It Off

1. Turn the ignition off, take the key well away and give it a minute to power down.
2. Undo the negative (−) terminal first and move the lead aside.
3. To lift the battery out, undo the positive (+) and the hold-down clamp.

Putting It Back

1. Connect positive (+) first, then negative (−) last; refit the cover.
2. Set the clock; the infotainment comes back by itself.

A same-spec battery doesn’t need coding; a different capacity/type should be registered to the energy-management system with an OBD tool.
