Open and Close the Windows From the Key Fob

These instructions apply to the Skoda Superb Mk3 (3V) 2015-Present. For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

Last updated: June 10, 2026

The Škoda Superb (Mk3/3V, 2015–Present) can open all four windows — and the panoramic sunroof, where fitted — straight from the key fob. On a hot day you can stand a few metres away, hold one button and let the cabin vent before you get in; notice a window left down with rain coming and you hold the other button to close everything from a distance. Škoda calls this convenience opening and closing, the VW Group comfort window feature.

What convenience opening and closing does

Holding the remote’s unlock button rolls all the windows down; holding lock (keep holding after the doors lock and the mirrors fold) winds them all back up. On Superbs with the panoramic roof, the sunroof opens during the unlock hold and closes on the lock hold. The windows move only while you hold the button, so you can stop them at any height by letting go.

How to open all the windows from the fob

  1. Stand within a couple of metres of the Superb.
  2. Press and hold the unlock button on the key.
  3. Keep holding — all the windows wind down, and the sunroof opens if fitted.
  4. Release as soon as they reach the level you want.

How to close all the windows from the fob

  1. Stand next to the car within remote range.
  2. Press and hold the lock button — keep holding past the point where the doors lock and the mirrors fold.
  3. The windows wind up and the sunroof closes while you hold.
  4. Release once everything is shut.

How to enable it in the infotainment

If holding the button does nothing, check the touchscreen. Look for Convenience windows in the vehicle settings (under the door/locking or open & close section, depending on software version) and switch it on. With it enabled, the remote operates the windows as above.

If there is no such option, or the car is an early or base-trim Superb, the feature is coded off at module level. A VAG diagnostic tool such as VCDS or OBDeleven activates the comfort window parameters in the convenience control unit, after which the menu toggle and remote buttons work.

The door-lock fallback

On Superbs with a physical key barrel in the driver’s door, pull the emergency blade from the remote, remove the handle cap, insert the key and turn and hold toward unlock to lower the windows or toward lock to raise them. The convenience function must be enabled for this to work; keyless cars use the remote buttons.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why doesn’t holding unlock do anything on my Superb Mk3?

Convenience windows is probably switched off in the infotainment, or coded off at module level. Enable “Convenience windows” in the vehicle settings first; if the option is missing, activate it with VCDS or OBDeleven.

Does the panoramic sunroof open as well?

Yes, if your Superb has the panoramic roof. Holding unlock opens it with the windows; holding lock closes it.

Convenience opening worked, then stopped — why?

The windows must stay calibrated for the function to run. After a flat or disconnected 12V battery a window can lose its one-touch memory — re-initialise each one (hold the switch fully up until it stops, release, hold up again briefly, repeat down) and the remote feature returns.

Do I have to keep holding lock after the doors lock?

Yes. The doors lock and mirrors fold first; keep the lock button held beyond that point and the windows then wind up. Let go too early and only the doors lock.

Can I open just the front windows?

No — the Superb opens all four together with this function. There is no factory split between front and rear windows on this model.

If a window won’t respond from either the switch or the remote, or a convenience-system warning appears, the body control module has likely logged a fault code. Decode it and see the likely cause at autodtcs.com.
