The second-generation Subaru Impreza (chassis codes GD saloon and GG wagon) ran from 2000 to 2007 and is the generation that made the turbocharged WRX and STI household names, alongside the naturally aspirated models. Its facelifts are known by their headlights – the 2000-2002 “round-eye”, the 2003-2005 “blob-eye” and the 2006-2007 “hawk-eye”. On this generation the airbag warning light reports faults as a blinked flash code through a hidden diagnosis connector rather than over OBD-II, and the keyless remotes are registered via connectors behind the driver sill trim. The guides below cover reading that airbag code and registering or re-batterying the remotes.
