These instructions apply to the BMW X5 Mk3 (F15/F85) 2013-2019.
For other models, please choose your vehicle here.
The BMW X5 (F15, 2013–2019) takes a 24-inch driver’s blade, a 20-inch passenger blade and a 12-inch rear blade. The fronts use BMW’s hook/claw fitting, so buy blades listed for the F15 X5 and the adapter will match.
Blade Sizes
- Front driver’s side: 24″
- Front passenger side: 20″
- Rear screen: 12″
- Fronts use the BMW side-pin/hook fitting — an F15-listed blade comes with the right adapter.
How to Replace the Front Wiper Blades
- With the wipers parked, lift a wiper arm off the glass until it holds up on its spring.
- Turn the blade across the arm, release the catch where the blade meets the hook, and slide the old blade off.
- Slide the new blade on until it clicks home, then fold it back in line with the arm.
- Lower the arm gently onto the screen — don’t let it snap down and chip the glass.
- Repeat for the other blade, then run the wipers on a wet screen to check for clean, chatter-free wiping.
Rear Blade
Lift the rear arm, unclip the 12″ rear blade at its fitting and slide it off, then fit the new rear-specific blade. The rear uses a different fitting from the fronts, so order it separately.
Frequently Asked Questions
What size wipers does a BMW X5 F15 take?
24″ driver, 20″ passenger and a 12″ rear blade. Choose blades listed for the F15 X5 so the hook adapter fits.
Any trick to lifting the arms?
Just lift each arm until it stays up on its spring, with the wipers in their normal parked position. Support the arm so it doesn’t spring back onto the glass while you work.
If the wipers won’t park correctly or a wiper fault appears, look the code up on autodtcs.com.
