These instructions apply to the Chevrolet Impala Mk10 2014-2020.
For other models, please choose your vehicle here.
The 2014–2020 Chevrolet Impala is jumped from remote terminals under the hood. This is the US-market procedure.
- Both vehicles in P, parking brakes on, ignitions off; donor close but not touching.
- Open the trim cover over the remote positive (+) terminal (under the battery cover, driver side).
- Red (+) to the remote positive, then to the donor’s positive (+).
- Black (−) to the donor’s negative (−), then to the Impala’s remote negative grounding post on the driver-side shock tower.
- Run the donor at idle at least four minutes, start the Impala, remove the cables in reverse order.
FAQ
Where’s the ground point?
The remote negative post on the driver-side shock tower — not the dead battery, and not the trunk auxiliary battery.
Can I jump from the trunk battery?
No — always use the under-hood remote terminals.
It won’t start.
Let the donor idle a few minutes; a repeat failure means a battery/alternator test.
If your Impala stores a fault code with the warning light, look it up on autodtcs.com.
