If an electrical item on your Citroën C4 (2010–2018) — a window, light, 12 V socket or the radio — stops working, a blown fuse is the first thing to check. The car has two fuse boxes: one in the lower dashboard (in the glovebox on right-hand-drive cars), and one near the battery on the left of the engine bay.
How to find and change a fuse on a Citroën C4
- Find the right box: in-cabin fuses are in the lower dashboard (in the glovebox on right-hand-drive cars); engine-bay fuses are near the battery on the left of the engine bay.
- Read the legend on the fuse-box lid (or in the handbook) to identify the fuse for the circuit that’s failed — assignments vary by trim and engine, so always check your own car’s lid.
- Pull the suspect fuse with the plastic puller clipped inside the box; a blown fuse has a broken metal strip.
- Fit a new fuse of the exact same amp rating (colour). Never fit a higher rating — it can cause a fire.
If the new fuse blows straight away there’s a fault in that circuit — have it checked rather than keep replacing fuses. Leave airbag, ABS and engine-management fuses to a specialist.
Frequently asked questions
Where are the fuses on a Citroën C4?
Two boxes: one in the lower dashboard (in the glovebox on right-hand-drive cars), one near the battery on the left of the engine bay.
Why does my fuse keep blowing?
A fuse that blows again immediately points to a short or an overloaded circuit — get the circuit diagnosed; don’t fit a bigger fuse.
If an electrical warning light is involved, you can look up the fault code on autodtcs.com.
