If the one-touch (automatic) window operation stops working on your Citroen C4 Mk2 (2010–2018) — usually after a flat battery or a battery disconnection — the windows need re-initialising. It takes under a minute per window.
How to initialise the electric windows on a Citroen C4 (2010–2018)
- Switch the ignition on.
- Press and hold the window switch to open the driver’s window fully, then release.
- Pull and hold the switch to close the window fully; keep holding for 1 second after it closes, then release.
- Repeat for each remaining window.
Once re-taught, a single tap of the switch should run the window fully up or down again, and the anti-trap protection is restored.
Frequently asked questions
Why did my C4 windows lose one-touch?
Disconnecting or flattening the 12 V battery erases the window module’s learned end positions, so it falls back to hold-to-move until you re-initialise.
My window only moves while I hold the switch — is it broken?
Usually not. That is the default before initialising; run the steps above to restore automatic operation.
If an electrical warning light appeared at the same time, you can look the code up on autodtcs.com.
