Reset the Service Indicator

These instructions apply to the Ford EcoSport Mk1 (B515) 2014-2022. For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

Last updated: June 6, 2026

After an oil-and-filter change, the service / oil-change message on your Ford EcoSport (B515, 2014–2022) stays on until you clear it. Ford uses a simple pedal routine on the EcoSport — no dealer tool needed.

Before You Start

Only reset once the service is actually done — the reminder is what tells you when the next change is due.

Resetting with the Pedals

  1. Switch the ignition on but do not start the engine.
  2. Fully depress both the accelerator and the brake pedals together and hold them.
  3. After about 3 seconds, ‘Reset in progress’ appears.
  4. Keep holding — after about 25 seconds, ‘Reset completed’ shows.
  5. Release both pedals and switch the ignition off.

If it doesn’t take, repeat the procedure.

If the Message Stays

  • Pedals not fully down — press both to the floor and hold the full time.
  • Engine started — it must be ignition-on only; switch off and retry.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I reset the service light on a Ford EcoSport?

Ignition on (engine off), fully press the accelerator and brake together, hold ~3s for ‘Reset in progress’, keep holding ~25s for ‘Reset completed’, then release.

Do I need a Ford diagnostic tool?

No — the pedal routine resets it from the driver’s seat.

Why won’t it complete?

Both pedals must be flat to the floor for the full time, with the engine off — not running.

Does this clear a warning light?

No — it only clears the service reminder, not a fault light.

If a warning symbol (not the service message) is lit, look the code up on autodtcs.com. Changing the battery too? See our EcoSport battery guide.
