If a Ford Kuga Mk2 (2013–2019) window has lost its one-touch or auto-reverse — usually after a battery disconnect or a pulled fuse — you re-teach it in under a minute using the switch on the door.
How to reinitialise a Kuga Mk2 electric window
- Turn the ignition on.
- Pull the window switch up and hold until the window is fully closed, then release.
- Pull the switch up briefly again and hold for about 5 seconds, then release.
- Pull the switch up briefly once more and hold for about 5 seconds, then release.
- Press the switch down and hold until the window is fully open.
- Pull the switch up and hold until the window is fully closed again, then release.
- Test one-touch — the window should now open and close fully on its own. If it doesn’t, repeat the steps, then do the same for the passenger window.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why did my windows stop auto-closing?
Disconnecting the battery or pulling the window fuse wipes the one-touch memory, so the window must be re-taught its travel.
Do I have to do each window separately?
Yes — repeat the procedure for every window that has lost one-touch.
Nothing happens on one-touch after I finish.
Run the steps again and make sure you hold each position until the window reaches the very end of its travel; the motor has to see the full stroke to learn it.
If a window still won’t operate, a motor or switch fault may log a code — check it on autodtcs.com.
