Specifications, Dimensions and Weights

Reviewed by the Service Reset editor · Updated October 12, 2026 · How we verify

These instructions apply to the GMC Sierra 1500 Mk4 (T1XX) 2019-Present.
For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

Full specifications for the fourth-generation GMC Sierra 1500 (T1XX, 2019 on), by engine. The Sierra 1500 is the mechanical twin of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, so these figures apply to both. Note the mid-cycle changes: the 2.7L turbo jumped from 348 to 430 lb-ft for 2022, and the 3.0L Duramax rose from 277 to 305 hp for 2023. Dimensions are Crew Cab short box; fluids and capacities are from the owner manual.

Each column is one specific vehicle — a single engine or motor and, where shown, body style. Dimensions and several weights are specific to that body and drivetrain; other body or powertrain versions differ, so match the column to your own vehicle.

Sources: Owner's manual · Workshop data. Where an owner’s manual or homologation figure exists it takes precedence; workshop data fills only what those omit.

A dash (—) means we haven’t verified that figure for that variant yet, not that it doesn’t exist. Figures are US-market. Towing, payload and weights are best-case/config-dependent — your door-jamb label is the authority.

Frequently Asked Questions

What engines does the T1XX Sierra 1500 offer?

A 310 hp 2.7L turbo-four, a 285 hp 4.3L V6, a 355 hp 5.3L V8, a 420 hp 6.2L V8, and a 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel inline-six.

Did the 2.7L turbo get more powerful?

Yes — torque rose from 348 lb-ft (2019-2021) to 430 lb-ft (2022 on), while horsepower stayed at 310 hp.

How much can it tow?

Up to 13,300 lb in the best-case configuration (6.2L V8, and the 2023+ Duramax). Most trims tow less; check your door label and the towing guide for your exact setup.

Does it need a special battery?

Stop/Start trucks (2.7L, 5.3L L84, 6.2L, 3.0L diesel) use an AGM battery — replace only with AGM.

Disclaimer: Specifications vary by model year, trim, cab, bed and options. Always confirm critical figures (towing, payload, weights, tire sizes) against your own vehicle’s door label and documents.
