When the spanner or an oil-maintenance message appears on your Mazda CX-5 Mk2 (KF, 2017–present), the oil-service counter has run out. You clear it yourself — through the central display, or with the trip button on cars with the digital cluster. Here’s both methods; do the oil and filter first.
Reset After the Oil Change Only
The counter just tracks distance and time since the last reset — resetting without fresh oil makes the car think the oil is new.
Method 1 — Central Display
- Turn the ignition on (engine off).
- Using the central display / Commander dial, select ‘Applications’.
- Select ‘Vehicle status’ → ‘Maintenance schedule’.
- Select ‘Oil change’, then ‘Reset’ — the oil service is reset.
Method 2 — Trip Button (digital cluster)
- Turn the ignition to LOCK (off).
- Press and hold the trip-recorder button for about 5 seconds — the oil-pressure warning light flashes for ~5 seconds to confirm the reset.
If the Reminder Returns
- It comes back at start-up — the reset wasn’t confirmed; repeat to the Reset step.
- A different warning is on — that’s a fault, not the service timer.
