When the tyre-pressure warning comes on in your Mercedes-Benz A-Class (W176, 2012–2018), it usually means the system needs to store your current pressures as the new reference — not that a sensor has failed. You reset it through the instrument-cluster menu and a short drive. This guide shows how.
When to Reset
- After checking or adjusting the tyre pressures (including seasonal changes).
- After changing one or more wheels or tyres.
- After rotating the wheels front-to-back.
Set Your Pressures First
The reset stores whatever pressures are in the tyres at that moment, so they must be correct first. Set all four (cold) to the figures on the placard in the driver’s door aperture or fuel flap, using the laden column for a full load. Never reset with a tyre already low.
How to Re-store the W176 Tyre Pressures
- Make sure the pressures are correct and cold.
- Turn the ignition to position 2.
- Using the left-hand steering-wheel buttons, scroll the cluster menu and open the “Service” menu.
- Scroll to and select “Tyre pressure” and confirm (the current pressures appear).
- Select “Adopt current pressures as new guideline values” and confirm. The display shows “Tyre pressure monitoring active, restart with OK”.
- Turn the ignition off, then drive a short distance to store the new values.

- A tyre is genuinely low: the system is doing its job — find and fix the leak, re-inflate, then re-store.
- Not stored: repeat the menu steps and confirm “Adopt current pressures”, then drive.
