Replace the Key Fob Battery

These instructions apply to the SsangYong Korando Mk4 (C300) 2019-2022. For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

Last updated: June 12, 2026

If the key fob on your SsangYong Korando (C300, 2019–2022) has gone weak or the central locking has become intermittent, the coin cell inside is almost certainly flat. It’s a quick swap with a CR2032.

Battery First — What You Need

  • A CR2032 coin cell.
  • A small flat screwdriver.

Replacing the Cell

  1. Slide out the mechanical key blade, then prise the fob open.
  2. Remove the old cell.
  3. Fit a new CR2032 with the positive side facing up (as marked).
  4. Close the fob and check the remote locks and unlocks the car.

Lost Key or Adding a Spare

A cell swap keeps the existing coding. A lost or broken key must be ordered and programmed by a SsangYong dealer with a diagnostic tool — there’s no owner sequence.

If a Fresh Cell Doesn’t Help

  • Check the orientation — the positive side faces up in this fob.
  • Use the key blade to unlock the door in the meantime.
  • Still intermittent? A receiver fault can store a code — look it up on autodtcs.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

What battery does the SsangYong Korando key use?

A single CR2032 coin cell, fitted positive-side up.

Do I need to reprogram the key after the swap?

No — the coding is retained for a battery change.

Can I program a new Korando key myself?

No — a replacement must be ordered and coded by a dealer.

The fob is dead — can I still get in?

Yes — use the mechanical key blade to unlock the door.

If the fob stopped working after a battery disconnection, decode any stored code on autodtcs.com.
