Replace the Key Fob Battery

If your Suzuki Celerio’s remote key only locks or unlocks the car from close range, the coin cell inside the fob is usually flat. It uses a standard CR-type coin cell that you can replace at home in a few minutes, with no recoding needed afterwards.

Before you start

• Buy the correct CR-type coin cell (check the old cell for the exact number when you open the fob).
• Work on a clean surface so the small parts and cell are easy to see.

1. Slide the release catch and pull out the mechanical (emergency) key blade from the fob.
2. Using the slot left by the key blade or a small flat tool, gently split the two halves of the fob case.
3. Note which way up the old coin cell sits, then lift it out.
4. Fit the new cell with the same polarity (the + face usually points up), avoiding finger contact on the flat faces.
5. Press the case halves back together until they click and slide the mechanical key blade back in.
6. Test lock and unlock from a normal distance to confirm the new cell works.

FAQ

Do I need to reprogram the key after changing the battery?

No. Swapping the coin cell does not erase the remote’s pairing, so it keeps working immediately. Reprogramming is only needed if the remote functions were somehow lost or you are adding a brand-new key.

Can I get and program a spare Celerio key myself?

Adding an additional key requires a Suzuki dealer or a locksmith with the correct diagnostic tool to code it to the car. A home battery change is fine, but pairing a new blank is not an owner-level job on this model.

The remote still has poor range with a fresh battery — why?

Check the cell is seated with correct polarity and the contacts are clean. If range is still short, the fob’s contacts or circuit may be worn, or you may simply need to be closer to the car’s antenna; the mechanical blade always unlocks the driver’s door as a fallback.
